On Top of  Moel Fammau

I climbed the well trod storey path to reach the ancient hill

to feast my eyes and fill my soul  with beauty strong and still

there, once was built, for George the Third, a fall and mighty tower

to celebrate his jubilee yet destroyed by nature' s power!

Now old remains of stout grey stones that formed the sturdy base

stare back at me - whilst gentle breezes brush my eager face.

And from this point I gaze around on views both near and far -

the Irish Sea, the Cheshire Plain and Blackpool' s famous tower.

The Isle of Man and Liverpool and Snowdon' s snow-topped peak

the distant hills of Derbyshire and Denbigh' s moorland bleak.

The lonely farms cling tightly to the soft green hills below

and narrow well-worn sheep tracks wind where humans fear to go.

Upon the green and luscious fields the sheep and cattle graze

and farmers toil their work-torn lives in never ending days.

A plume of soft grey smoke curls tip from same warm farmhouse fire and pointing proudly upwards - there' s St Peter' s glorious spire

from here there' s beauty unsurpassed though there are many vales the Clwyd seen from Moel Fammau is the prettiest in Wales!
